Let’s not allow your frustration to run the show anymore. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Let’s dive into the Child Withins Course and stay with problems longer than we normally would in the past. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />The next time you get frustrated and want to give up instead of asking the question “Why is this happening to me?” declare this: <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />“I stick with this just one more week”. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Don’t get caught up in future tripping. Just take it one day at a time. Turn what frustrates you into what motivates you and push through the moments when you would normally quit. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Failure is just a lesson unless you decide to stop. So get back out there. This means holding our ground when needed. It also means being able to admit when we are wrong.<br /><br /> <br /><br />The Child Withins recovery path means connecting to our heart, our deepest truth and living from that place. And our heart is not a push over. Let me tell you.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Our Heart knows how much we are worth. Your Child Within believes in you. Your Child Within knows when you need to set a boundary and when you should get over your own ego.<br /><br /> <br /><br />And sometimes your Heart asks you to stand up for yourself.<br /><br /> <br /><br />But, that can be hard on the path because we don’t want to come off as mean, aggressive or a hypocrite. However, holding our ground and being firm is our child withins true nature.<br /><br /> <br /><br />The question is – how can you do it without being rubber banded back into our old coping strategies? we are only used to setting boundaries in a mean spirited way as a last resort. Why? Because we get so fed up that we finally pop open and anger and resentment comes flying out.<br /><br /> <br /><br />It’s actually unkind to hold in what you are feeling and bottle it up so tight that no one sees. There’s nothing of loving kindness about that and you get no brownie points from your child within for holding back your truth.<br /><br /> <br /><br />The key is to address things when they come up.<br /><br /> <br /><br />You have to be aware of our needs. We have to be able to tap into what our child within is thinking and feeling. You have to be able to see it from our child's perspective and yet be firm in holding our ground.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Most of us don’t need a lesson in wisdom; we need a lesson in applying the wisdom that we know. And we pretend to be in touch with who we are, but in reality we are afraid to stand up for what our child within believes in.<br /><br /> <br /><br />We can and should stand up for what we believe in. Drawing a loving line in the sand can be a powerful declaration to ourself, our Child Within and others that we mean recovery business.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Hiding behind a pretend smile or the lie of “it’s all good” doesn’t serve us or others.<br /><br /> <br /><br />We are being asked to set and hold boundaries for topics that are important to our child within at last.<br /><br /> <br /><br />This is vital to being a Stager, to developing a powerful Child Within practice and for expressing our self-worth in our world.<br /><br /> <br /><br />How can we express what we need to in our recovery in a way that is loving?<br /><br /> </span>The Ten Stages is a studied recovery course. As you progressively break from our family on the quest to become a true individual, a part of ourself remains a clone of our family and ancestors in attitude and behaviour. This part does not want to change. It views the world through the dtysfunctioning ancestral perspective and hates that the deepest part of us desires to free our spirit and stand on our own. The weak attacks the strong, and we feel this attack as self-doubt.<br /><br />Self-doubt is painful and unpleasant, but valuable. It is the ever present reminder that the civil war within really is happening, and that this is no imaginary internal conflict. Self-doubt points out exactly who are the opposing armies and defines the relative strength and tactics of each. Self-doubt is the conscious expression of the battle between the child within and the false parent that we have internalised, and if we lack clarity about our parents’ deepest motives we need look no further than the cruelty in our own self-doubt. our parents implanted this self-doubt in us long ago with full intention, however unconscious, of blocking us from progressing on the very journey we are undertaking today. our parents of today may smile and deny it all, but our self-doubt speaks louder.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />As you grow stronger your self-doubt will weaken. But this is not always obvious, because as you grow stronger you will become more conscious of your self-doubt and will hear it more clearly. Whereas in the past you heard your self-doubt unconsciously to the degree that you may have hardly even noticed it and simply followed its orders, now at times it can torture you with its poisoned arrows and roadside bombs. In the past it didn’t consciously trouble you much because you weren’t doing battle with it. You were simply trying to fit in and win impossible love just like you struggled to do as a child. Now you are stronger and realize that if you continue to heed its call it will kill you. So you fight. We will take an emotional inventory of the traumas foisted on us when We were a child, and will tell us that we are a lot more miserable and disturbed than we have deluded ourself into believing – and also might force us to discover that our parents really did mess me up worse than we thought, and that the upwelling pain coming from that potential discovery might want to drive me back into my old patterns of dissociation. But, we can spend so much time dwelling on what’s wrong and what’s negative – that we forget all else.<br /><br /><br />To much safety is bad for the child within.<br /><br /><br /><br />All the thoughts of “I’m not good enough” and “I’m wrong or bad” or “this will never work out“ can overrun us.<br /><br /><br />Especially when we take risks with things that mean the most to us.<br /><br /><br />When we get vulnerable and put ourselves out there, boy oh boy, can the parental voice rise up.<br /><br /><br />It’s almost as if they tend to scream the loudest when we have the most on the line. The more vulnerable, the louder the inner critic and parental voice.<br /><br /><br />It’s there to keep us alive, but what’s living without being ourself out loud?<br /><br /><br />One of the hardest things for us to do is to really put our self out there, give something our all and put our whole heart into it and all the while we have these parental voices saying what they say.<br /><br /><br />And then when we put it out there, even if there is lots of amazing positive response, our parental minds latch onto the negative stuff of some of the few others – and then it screams “See, I told you so!”<br /><br /><br />But – that is not how we step into greatness. That is not how we make our lives mean something. That is now how we build a life of meaning and service.<br /><br /><br />We’ve learned it’s about honouring the parental voice and heeding it when we are in mortal danger – but otherwise thanking it and moving along.<br /><br /><br />Every time We’ve taken a big risk – those parental voices rear their head – but now we just thank them for sharing and move along. And when other people voice to me what our own negative mind says to me, instead of using it as a reason to prove our negativity right, We see it as an opportunity to believe in our self and our journey even more.<br /><br /><br />It’s hard. We will perceive ourselves as detached from our bodies, on the ceiling, or somewhere else in the room watching what is happening to our bodies. We will feel as if we are in a dream or some altered state that is not quite real or as if the experience is happening to someone else. Or we may lose all memories or sense of the experiences having happened to us, resulting in gaps in time or even gaps in our personal history. Our child within will cut off or lose touch with various aspects of our self.<br /><br />Although our child within not be able to purposely dissociate at first, once we have learned to dissociate as a defence mechanism we will automatically dissociate during other stressful situations or when faced with trauma reminders. As a result, it will have had adverse effects on learning, classroom behaviour, and social interactions.
