Our changed life is a gift to ourselves . Yet not all may be comfortable with our transition. Others are used to us behaving in the old dissociated ways. We may lose some friends and intimates—and even family members. With this in mind, we act gently and with compassion. But we act. We can see that our worst thoughts and actions were only a coded replication of the worst that was done to us. Now it is our job to so study the ten stages. We trace the connection between the abuse we suffered and the abuse we committed—and continue to commit. We connect our defeating adult behaviour, the shadow self to abuse of our childhood. It was never our true self that was hurtful, only our raging child within.
