In movies and dramas – our heroes and heroines have giant epiphany moments when they realise life is slipping away from them. There is some major announcement, some obvious thing that let our characters know they are making a big mistake – but that’s not how it works off screen. Most of the time we just slide into a complacent life. And then wake up one day wondering, “How did I get here?” And that’s a day that creeps up on us – and usually by the time it hits us, we’ve wasted so much time, we can’t begin to understand where it all went. Dreams don’t die upon an announcement – they slide into death, one subtle moment, choice, and day at a time. There’s no big wake up call, just a slow dimming of our internal passion, enthusiasm, and joy. We sell our dreams for certainty. We are terrified of our freedom. We let the fear of dying stop us from fully living. And when it goes unexamined – we can blame others, the environment, the government, our friends, family or even our favourite food.</div>

 We didn't notice that each day, we had given our dreams permission to drift away. That each step towards the boring comfort that we took, we leaped away from the thrill of seeing what we’re really made of. Why does this happen? Because we got hurt, things didn’t work out the way that we wanted them too, or we just don’t think it’s possible. And then we lower our standards so that we don’t get our hopes up. And somewhere inside all of this is a small whisper from our child within that is dying to be re-born. A part of us that knows we were meant for greatness. Not to be a celebrity or to be admired, but greatness in the form of changing our world, making it a better place, adding value, helping others – really making a positive mark. But, it’s scary. It’s not easy. It’s too risky. So, we let our dreams die a little bit each day. Then – if we are lucky, we get a wake up call. But it’s too subtle. We don’t listen. And then a louder one, and a louder one, and a louder one, until finally it’s like our child within is screaming at us to wake up – but we don’t pay attention, we just complain that life isn’t fair or that life sucks – all the while missing the wake up call. The Child Within doesn’t die. But our fear of our parental voice must be challenged. The Child Withins personal intuitive is earned through consistent effort. The Child Within s Freedom is earned through becoming the person it takes to make them real. Freedom is earned when new perspectives are setup. Freedom is earned when you get ok with disappointment and use it as fuel to make life better, instead of giving up like an amateur. “live-and-let-live” philosophy -- one of “being with,” not “doing to.” The Stages is designed as a free flowing study course with a start and a finish point that gives balance and timing, whilst avoiding forcing or pressuring anyone to do anything. By conventional standards, one could argue that Stages is not really even “treatment,” per se, rather, a study program which gets out of people’s way and gives them the respect and freedom to go through their own process on their own, albeit with the emotional support of our guides. Stages views recovery as a crisis or emergency that is laden with meaning, and that people can derive value from their crisis while enjoying the company of a community of respectful, caring, intuitive others. This is no small challenge and is a learning experience for everyone.With gains and losses felt by all as a joint process of study and renewal. For those of us who are in the process of completing  the ten stages and find that we are awakening from the nightmare of traumatic childhoods, we find ourselves living a conscious, purposeful life. No longer locked in a shroud of repressed terror, our life force is freed to evolve and activate our unique gifts, talents of the child within. With our censoring voices silenced, we can now speak openly and embody truth. With our fears of rejection diminished, we can accept the best of ourselves. Are we fully awakened? Certainly we have had glimpses, periods of time when nothing interceded between us and truth. Now that we know what our child within is and that it is possible for us and for all, we dedicate our lives to bringing this gift into full manifestation. Do we have an obligation to help others? Our hearts give us this answer: Yes! We are all connected and cannot abandon the world to its agony and illusions. We who have experienced an awakening, be it fleeting or eternal, work in the world and dedicate our lives to nurturing the healing paths of others child within. This is the life of deepest meaning in our true healthy recovery.The Ten Stages with our children within are our only true healthy recovery path.

What a wonderful experience intuitive self-reflection is any conscious, non-dissociative form of prayer, meditation, or seeking. In a mindful manner we speak and listen to our depths for guidance. <div>
This practice keeps us firmly rooted on our path and opens the way to the truth that the genius in our child within has been waiting a lifetime to manifest.This has been our experience during the roadshow. Having grieved our traumatic history we are aware that our life force is no longer held captive by ancient shackles and old parental controls. We are no longer blocked by an impenetrable wall of traumas, defences, and self-hating voices. Our freed energy allows us the deepest connection to the best of ourselves enhancing our personal power. However, we do not abuse our power to dominate others or to exploit the material world. If we do, we are only deluding ourselves. Our sole desire for aligning with truth and its power is to guide us to our life’s calling. <div>
Liberation and freedom of the child within.Words cannot express my thanks to fellow stagers and the people we have met to the three men and a dog who shared in the toilet paper experience of finding true abiding friendship whilst painfully rejecting all other routes.To the friends we made whilst breaking bread this has been the start of the regeneration of our children within and true intuitive communication inside Austria,Spain and Portugal.

At The Stages we have a different philosophy for our life. We come to focus on the child within as a living entity.That why we call it the CHILD WITHIN not inner child which is a parental false selfs method of acknowledgement. 
 We, so-called adults are not truly adults at all, and we have to examine this fact we have become a weird self constructed mess. We all get older. Anyone, with a little luck, can do that. But, speaking from a recovery viewpoint, this is not adulthood. True adulthood hinges on acknowledging, accepting, and taking responsibility for loving and re-focusing on our own child within us.  
 
For most of us, this never happens because we have long forgotten the language of our childhood. Instead, our child within has been denied, neglected, disparaged, abandoned or rejected. We are told by society to "grow up," putting childish things aside. To become adults, we've been taught that our child within represents our child-like capacity for innocence, wonder, awe, joy, sensitivity and playfulness and this message must be stifled, quarantined or even killed. Our child within is angry, very very angry, Pissed off, venge-filled and often hurt, wounded cowering in the shadows locked in a basement of our childhood experience. Dissociation a healthy way out. To suggest that Dissociation or addiction is a mental illness is to suggest that something has gone wrong in the brain, that some form of medicine may be needed to treat it, that this ‘illness’ may recur, and that it may even be contagious. Likening mental distress to physical illness is inadequate because it pathologises our normal, human suffering and places it squarely in the medical model, at the whim of doctors and ‘experts’ who can label our experiences as abnormal. I came to realise—eventually—that nothing had gone wrong with my brain: my brain made satisfactory survival decisions. It helped me survive the unendurable by switching off, by limiting my awareness, by refusing to join up as a whole what is too much for a child’s brain to bear.I came to realise that my brain isn't sick. It’s what happened to me that was sick—and arguably the people who did what they did to me. My brain just reacted in the best way it could to keep me alive, and to keep me sane. DAD is an adaptation to an abusive or traumatic environment. But once that environment changed—once, as an adult, I became safe—I needed to set about the process of re-adapting my brain to a different environment, one where it didn't need to be so focused on threat and trauma and pain. That is the process of recovery, to mould my brain to a new, non-traumatic environment, not to mend it from dysfunction or cure it from illness. My brain had to learn to focus anew on exploration and relationships and joy. Dissociation was logical when I was a child in an unsafe environment. It only became illogical when I persisted in it as an adult in safe surroundings.

If there‘s no action needed at that particular moment in relation to our goal ...recovery, just lay back and think what we could do that would have a bigger meaning, like practice of meditation of our objective or thing about our Real Life Purpose...recovery. Take some time to clean our mind, relax, go for a walk. Who knows, maybe it‘s going to be the time when we to see a sign leading toward our goal.

Within the practise of the ten stages we begin to understand that We and we alone have the power to recharge our lives. Whilst gently de-programming our minds from being dependent on substances or other people as acts of learned dissociation that effects both our self-esteem and security.

We start to recognise that we have a truer self within that can heal and regain control of our lives, and that this is the reason – coupled with all of our unresolved childhood strategies – that our lives has become so disturbed and dysfunctional. </div>

Addiction does not exist it is an attempt to describe the often fatal consequences of dissociation.Addiction is not a disease and never has been, it is as if we describe death as a disease death, death is an accepted consequence of life. If we accept that addiction has no meaning and can be only described in the terms of dissociations escapes from stress or an unacceptable reality then and only then can a solution be found.Grouping people together and further traumatising them is totally insane.Yet this is the recognised treatment? The Ten Stages and the child within is a taught course that uncovers the trauma that others have failed to find and guide the newcomers into a healthy recovery free from stigma, mumbo jumbo, gurus, mentors and sponsors we acknowledge trauma and fear and encourage participation e do not label yet we acknowledge that this course requires high levels of truthfulness, your personal truthfulness which is a consequence of your courage. Before we tell another person the full and forbidden details of our dissociation history, we need to tell ourselves. We can only safely share in public what we have first owned in private. We must be the first to witness our childhood dilemma in all its detail, to assemble the jumbled pieces of our puzzle into a unified whole. Then we need to tell another mature person. This makes our story undeniably real. We tell someone who has already grieved a great degree of his or her own dissociated past, because they will not doubt the reality of our story to protect an idealised version of their parents. They will empathise with the heartbreak we suffered and will neither defend our traumatise nor blame us. This enlightened witness reminds us that we did not deserve to be violated. The crime was committed against us, not by us. Abuse is not love and never was. Our witness reassures us that no matter what happened to us, our core remains untainted. Our witness mirrors what should have been mirrored when we were children: our perfection.

We come to experience that in our ten stage meditations we begin quietening our falsely created parental voice begins to relax the judgemental voices that we have picked up in our dysfunctional childhoods. The understanding comes to us that our creation of God/Goddess/Universe/Creator/Spirit/Higher Power are externalised judgemental voices which collude in keeping us in a cage of safety and dull us down into non productive coping strategies. We awaken the healing wisdom within us when we open ourselves to that clear power of our meditations.At this stage the seeds of our authentic selves trust in the healing power of the truth starts to permeate back into our consciousness. We move into a quite neutral space and we reawaken a sense of anxiety and fear. At this time we recognise that we need reassurance that all is well and the anxiety is an illusion. We come to understand that since there is a form of universality within us, this is a our true self . We came to recognise that this God/personalised parental figure outside of us and beyond us, that this externalised God, who is essentially little more than an idealised, fantasy parent, can not save us and we are not being disloyal to reject it. The newly found self starts to reconstruct our lives. Basically,The coping strategy of the old belief system tells us that we can’t take care of ourselves because we are too wounded as children, too completely damaged, but we still believe in our illusion that our idealised Mommies/Daddies can still save us! We just have to put our faith back in this illusory Mommy figure hopefully a better fantasised Mommy than we had the first time around not the one who participated in crushing our personality and making us into such a deranged dysfunctional person.

Ten Stages the child within game changer when we extract the arrows of childhood abuse we come to live in a different world. Our mental make-up is different from others. This is painful for us. We may be attracted to some members, but on a child within level we may be incompatible. We who undertake the stages courses to, taking the path of resolving our deepest childhood traumas, are changed by it. We are no longer like other people. We can relate to them, but they can no longer relate to us, because they have no frame of reference by which to understand us. We will judge them accurately, and they will only misjudge us in return – and label us as the judgmental one. We will breathe and function outside the box in which they operate. This will become painful for us. We will often lack for company. We will know loneliness. We will know isolation. We will not always enjoy it. We will crave the approval from others who will not be able to give it. They will not be able to rescue us. It is hard to be a stager. Most new species in our planet’s history have died out quickly. Many such as us do not find mates. We have to learn to be alone. It is easier to join the flock and find our partner within its folds. But there is hope for stagers. As individuals we live a long time and we are compelled to fight for our way. Perhaps we will catch hold and someday become dominant. Even if we do not breed on a physical level, our ideas can…and already are. This is a wonderful time of change. The world is open. The world needs to hear our message.

 To be more. To do more. To recover more. To have more. To feel more. To give more. To express more. And perhaps to weigh less. When we feel like we are making progress, we feel alive. When we feel stuck, it’s easy to feel dead inside.Wow but thats the way we feel. Nothing makes us more frustrated or sad than when we feel hopeless that we can’t grow in a certain area. We love the feeling of expansion, of creation and the freedom that comes when we can pull something awesome off and deliver amazing recovery to others.</div>

 We believe in growth and We’ve set our whole life up to assist us in continuing to grow each and every day. There’s a pattern we’ve noticed when it comes to growth that holds so many of us back. And that pattern is this: before we expand, we have to up our game and take a bigger risk. So we are where we are today – that is AWESOME! But, no matter where we want to go, there’s an even bigger risk that we have to take if we want to grow. If we’re just dreaming then we aren’t taking risks. We who make it happen get comfortable taking greater and greater recovery risks. Each new goal achieved leads to a greater risk to take next time. So, what to do? Look at where we want to go. What goals do we want to achieve in our ten stage recovery? And then look at the risks we are scared to take. What are they? If we knew that we must go through these risks to get where we wanted to go, what next steps would we take in our recovery? Our child within needs to experience the feelings of being worthy and welcome, not bent out of shape, angry, or apologetic about their existence. 
In other places you will see misguided people talking about the inner child this is a travesty of our belief . The inner child is a description of someone looking into a child's bedroom an observer, a threatening stranger, a shadow self. 
For us the child within is the perfect child who is lying on the bed, our child hidden within who is perfect and whole in every way. 
Our child is not sick or wounded but whole and incredibly healthy and awaiting to connect to us.Do not believe in the sick explanations of crippled adults who come from a point of observation, not truth and healthy contact with us, but a sick and abusive pathology. Our Healthy children have no need to apologise they have done nothing wrong they are and have perfection as a gift of birth.

When we start to understand how dissociation works it has serious implications. It describes how we will be willing to increase our own delusional thinking in order to protect our current twisted understanding. This goes a long way to explaining how we seem comfortable to hold onto ideas that appear so obviously irrational sometimes to us and often to other people. 
 
 Dissociation has important implications for us who have been caught trying to build a life in recovery from so called addictions that do not exist. Implications of constantly regurgitating old past traumas in front of others and expecting the results to be beneficial when quite obviously its not. We can change our clothes, we can change our diet and we can start to move our body, but none of that will do any good without going into the depths of the feelings we have suppressed for so long of our child within. What feelings are you afraid to feel? What feelings do you try to escape? What feelings are you holding back because you think you are a bad person if you feel them? You see – these places are the places we need to go if we are to liberate ourselves. This is what Carl Jung meant when he said, “Enlightenment is not imaging figures of light, but making the dark conscious.” We can’t make our child within conscious if we are too self-judgmental to allow it to come forward – this is our Adult bypass.

The Joy the Freedom of our Spanish quest, our wonderful perceptive new members who taught is such a lot the 5.20 am study groups taught us that there really is nothing remotely Like the ten Stages taught courses: all bad decisions we make, even our reenactments of our wrong life threatening decisions offer us a chance to learn. And here is the hope, the simple hope for all of us: self-reflection. We can learn from our bad decisions.  We just have to study ourselves.  We have to study our motivations.  We have to study our histories.  We have to study our feelings.  We have to become honest with ourselves. This is at times invariably painful too, but if we can tolerate it long enough to be able to sit with it and trace it to its origin, then we can grieve it and we can ultimately reconnect with our true selves. This is how we heal trauma. And once we do that we find that our true selves have the greatest allies imaginable: our conscious minds, our natural intuition, and our passion. And with those allies how can our future decisions, and therefore our self-care, be anything but excellent? Those who nurture it are imbued with enormous power: the power to see, the power to know, the power to differentiate, the power to reflect, the power to choose, the power to speak the truth, and ultimately the power to grow.They are endowed with authority to overcome all powerlessness. Most people are dishonest in an attempt to eschew their power. They live as victims, strapped into the childhood ruts their parents lovingly moved them into. They lie not only to their closest intimates but to themselves. Their child within is dangerous because it connects with all their years of buried pain and rage and sadness and hurt. If it were to explode it would crush their fragile external lives – and force them to realise just how unloved they are by themselves and their present intimates and how unloved they were in their childhoods by those entrusted to guide their existences. But at the same time this explosion would free their real purpose for being. Suddenly their lives would find hope – and a path toward peace. When we become tuned in emotionally to our child withins feelings, and learn to validate our child's perceptions, our child within then starts to grow up learning to trust its own feelings which eliminates the crippling self-doubt that comes from narcissistic parenting. Here’s a simple checklist to help you get started: Identify the feeling our child within is having. Reflect back the feeling we are hearing or seeing to make sure we are correct to our own intuitive voice.Is this why I feel like this always.... Don’t make numbing assumptions. Give validation of the feeling. Empathise with our child within. Then deal with the context of what is going on now are we in an abusive presence and how is that effecting us are we angry, sad withdrawn of frightened. We all want to be seen and heard. Empathy is what develops true emotional intimacy with our child within. Empathy is important for our child to learn for creating future healthy relationships, as well. Empathising with our child within does not mean that you allow it to manipulate you or always get its way. Child Within false protection of constructed dissociations creating blocks of pain, sorrow, anger, and despair always wanting to arrive unbidden into our mind consciousness, because they’ve painfully swollen and need our attention. They want to emerge, but we don’t want these uninvited guests to invade our adult space because they’re painful to acknowledge. So we try to block their way. We want them to stay asleep down in the basement of our child withins sub-conscious mind. We don’t want to face them, so our habit is to fill our mind with other guests. Whenever we have ten or fifteen minutes of free time, we do anything we can to keep our living room occupied. We call a friend. We pick up a book. We turn on the television. We go for a drive. We hope that if the mind is occupied, these unpleasant ghosts from our past will not come up.But all mind needs circulation. If we don’t let them come up, it creates bad circulation in our mind, and symptoms of the ghosts of addiction and depression begin to manifest once more in our mind and body. 
 
Sometimes when we have a headache, we take aspirin, but our headache doesn’t go away. Sometimes this kind of headache can be a symptom of dissociation. Perhaps we have allergies. We think it’s a physical problem, but allergies can also be a symptom of mental turmoil. We are advised by doctors to take drugs, but sometimes these will continue to suppress our child within, making our sickness deeper.

We have learned in taking part in the ten stage quest over thousands of kilometres in ten spiritual places in southern Spain.The empathy, love and compassion of so many people who welcomed us into their homes family and life and we had to learn very early in our quest that before we could tell another person the full and forbidden details of our traumatic history, we need to tell ourselves. We could only safely share in public what we had owned in private. We must be the first to witness our childhood dilemma in all its detail and we assemble the jumbled pieces of the puzzle into a unified whole. Then we needed to tell another mature person. This made our story undeniably real. We tell someone who has already grieved a great degree of his or her own traumatic past, because they do not doubt the reality of our history to protect an idealized version of their parents. They will empathize with the heartbreak we suffered and will neither defend our traumatizers nor blame us. This enlightened witness reminds us that we did not deserve to be violated. The crime was commited against us, not by us. Abuse is not love and never was. Our witness reassures us that no matter what happened to us, our core child within remains untainted perfect in every way. Our witness mirrors what should have been mirrored when we were children: our perfection.

Dealing with grief is not a linear progression, but a whole process with chaotic twists and turns. How these "stages" relate to each other has very little to do with logical thinking. Actually, the emotional logic of grief, so to speak, is in the jumble of emotions. The emotional logic of grief at the ten stages is better understood if you think of it as a series of frantic moves to re-orient to the world after a big loss has left you emotionally off-balance (disoriented).The acknowledgement of the child within can lead to periods of intense grief for our lost childhood.We grieve our lost childhood and emotional sanity, we grieve our parents or significant others.We grieve our lost child within.We acknowledge our rage, pain and disillusion and have to grieve them.We experience with support our full range of grief emotions and we once more survive and come out the other-side into the sunshine of relief and a liberation to feel our full palate of our emotions we restart our life and become emotionally reborn.This I have experienced and am experiencing the power and authority of truthful grief.

When we start to connect to the ten stages at a deeper level, we cause violent reactions from our close family and friends,It is entirely possible over time to get so beaten down by them and so sure we might be at fault just by studying the child within, that we fail to identify the dynamic of dissociation? YES. The Gaslight Effect happens over time, gradually, and often, by the time we become deep enmeshed into the Gaslight Tango (the dance you do with your gaslighting family or fellowship, where you allow them to define our reality) we are not the same independent self we used to be. In fact, our ego functioning has been compromised and, no longer being certain of our reality, we are not often able to accurately identify when something is "off" with our family of origin. The process of gaslighting happens in stages, although the stages are not always linear and do overlap at times, they reflect very different emotional and psychological states of disfunction. The first stage is disbelief: when the first sign of gaslighting occurs. You think of the gaslighting interaction as a strange behavior or an anomalous moment. During this first stage, things happen between us and our partner, or our boss, friend, family member, that seem odd to us. The next stage is defense: where we are defending ourself against the gaslighter's manipulation. Think about it—we tell our family member, for example, we are unhappy with the inter-action we have been getting; we feel we are being isolated. We ask them why this is happening. Instead of addressing the issue, we are told that we are way too sensitive and way too stressed by the studies we have entered into..... well, maybe we are sensitive and stressed, but, that doesn't answer the question of why we are being isolated for close family interactions. But, rather than leave it at that, or redirect the conversation, we start defending ourself, telling our family we are not that sensitive or stressed, or, that the stress doesn't interfere with our ability to communicate. But, during this stage, we are driven crazy by the conversations.... going over and over, like an endless tape, in our mind. What's worse, is that these kind of conversations characterise our relationship more and more. We can't stand that our family sees the situation like that and we work even harder on the trying to react to the family dysfunction we find the conversations boring, even demeaning, just to prove that we are not overly sensitive and stressed out. The next stage is depression: By the time we get to this stage we are experiencing a noticeable lack of joy and, we hardly recognise ourself anymore. Some of our behaviour feels truly alien. We feel more cut off from friends—in fact, you don't talk to others about our relationships very much. we may express concern about how we are and you are feeling—they treat us like you really do have a problem.

Well I have returned from an extended tour of Spain speaking and communicating this truly wonderful program in Marbella, San Pedro , Almunecar, Cordoba and EL Rocio finally in Isla Cristina and Portugal the gift to me has been power and authority. The input from the child hidden within and the gifts of peace and understanding have been enormous. The Child Within materialised into my life as the gift of complete truth with its many facets .An ability to communicate that I had not had before and an understanding of the great beauty of human interreaction and love.The unexpected gifts of kindfulness have been so extreme that they awaken me in the early morning to complete meditations. I will over the next months attempt to explain and illustrate an internationally distrubuted film is in the final planning stages
