We, the membership who have read and heard this profound message in the ten stages are shocked, because we are used to being coddled and told how great and smart and wise and enlightened and healthy we already are. 
 
We are used to being told it was just fine for us to have children. We are used to being told that our abuse of our children was not really abuse and that our sick conditional love for our children really was love. 
 
We are used to being told that our own lies and insanity were actually perfectly healthy and normal. We have become used to listening to false prophets, gurus and mentors when we have problems. We are used to being told that our mindless behaviour was wise, and that we are doing the right thing by building a wall between our consciousness and the wrenching pain of our true, deep spirit the child within. 
 
We are used to being told that our crazy culture was healthy, our treatment of the earth’s resources was progressive, our romantic relationships were beautiful, our love for our parents was appropriate and warranted, our histories of abuse are overrated, our pop-psychologists are indeed psychologists, our wars and hatreds are largely justified, our petty prejudices are acceptable as long as they did not push them in others’ faces, and our hatreds are rational. 
 
We are used to being placated and numbed and medicated and enslaved and psychically castrated by those who are profiting from our herd mentality. And we have always thought this illusion was what love is all about. 
 
We become uncomfortable when we hear a program that would dare to contradict everything we hold dear. And yet these words resonated with us on some deep and long-forgotten level. We are not used to hearing the truth. It makes us curious. And it also makes some of us want to kill this program in a writhing sea of our own denial. 
 For if we hear our deep recovery message and we do not take it to heart, if we cling to our self-deception and our false comforts and our idealised, dishonest beliefs about our parents and our childhood, then we will know just how foolish and wasted we are. We will see our remaining vulnerability and weakness, and we will know that it just remains a matter time before a strong wind sweeps us off our feet and leaves us dazed and lost and cut down to our true and appropriate recovery size. 
 
The Ten Stages is a studied recovery course. The Ten Stages of recovery from dissociation

The Ten Stages are a studied recovery course.They are a source of reconnection a method of unlearning and a reintroduction to our child within which leads us back to our one true intuitive voice.We start to learn and come out of our protective dysfunctional shell and reclaim our lives. We reconstruct and being to understand our wonder filled journey of discovery as we explore our past lives. The joy of release from our misconceptions, ancient life roads that have caused us dysfunctional behaviours becomes ever more clear to us as we watch our fellow students gently cast off the bondage of the past and move out into our newly found liberation. Childhood fears and ancient coping strategies are cast aside as we realise the baggage we have been carrying our demeanour changes the deeply etched lines of pain leave our faces and once more we shine.For some of us who have known no peace in life this is the first time and we become fearful attempting to scuttle once more into our shadowy past. We scurry back filled with our knowledge and come to realise that the spectres of aloneness,fear and abuse have no place in this our reality
