Our relationship with our hidden child is not something we give or get; it is something that we nurture and grow, a connection that can only be cultivated between our two selves when it exists within each one of us – we can only practice compassion to others as much as we practice Loving-Kindness to ourselves. Shame, blame, disrespect, betrayal, and the withholding of affection damage the roots from which our reconnection grows.
