I won’t show you my true self and you wont show me your true self and we’ll keep each other at arms distance so things don’t have to get “real”.<br /><br /> <br /><br />But – what we crave more than anything else is the real, the true, the authentic and the raw, the return to childhood truth.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Because deep down that is what each and every one of us is – raw.<br /><br /> <br /><br />This is why we admire children so much – they have no filters. They are identified with truth. This is also why we love elderly people who just speak their minds with no filters.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Who you really are is perfect and no mask lasts forever. So while we are trying to maintain the illusion of the perfect mask we are forgetting ourselves. We are missing ourselves all while we try our best to keep up the good appearance so the others with the masks won’t judge us.<br /><br /> <br /><br />But, this is causing us stress and ill health. Slowly the masks are coming off and we are beginning to realise that our truth, our raw emotion, our deepest thoughts are real and valid and far more powerful than the false person we’ve created to cover up our true beauty that of the child within.<br /><br /> <br /><br />We can’t get so caught up in being a teacher that we forget we are a student. We can’t get so caught up in helping others that we don’t show our own vulnerable side.<br /> <br /><br />That misses the point entirely.<br /><br /> <br /><br />The aim is to be honest and real beyond the form or identity that we have created.<br /><br /> <br /><br />This is why we love great art in any form that makes us feel this way. This is why we trust certain people who make us feel this way and this is why it feels so damn good to cast off the pretences and just be who we really know ourselves to be deep down the child within.<br /><br /> <br /><br />Stagers, you don’t need to be perfect – you already are – in all your many states of depression, sadness, joy, love, gratitude and everything in between.<br /><br /> <br /><br />It’s all a perfect dance. Feel those feelings. Don’t make yourself wrong.
