Denial comes directly from the standard response of our child within to trauma or abuse – “this isn’t happening to me”. We grow into adult life, and we then loose the ability to say “this has stopped happening to me”. When we learn in the Ten Stages that we can, the symptoms of our addictions and acting out behaviour, evaporate.
